Machismogre

The Machismogre is a monster that appears in the Nintendo 3DS version of Dragon Quest VII. It is an Escudogre that has cast off their shield and fights with their bare fists instead.

Characteristics

Machismogres are lumbering, muscular ogres with reddish-pink skin, white beards, and tiny solid white eyes. On their immense backs, they have a pair of spikes. The only clothes they wear are leather loincloths covering short orange trunks and spiked golden skullcaps on their heads. Eschewing the use of their shields, these ogres take a full-on offensive approach in battle, unleashing powerful punches with their fists even at the risk of their own health. Their name is a combination of the Spanish word machismo, which means excessively manly pride, and ogre, a type of demon.
