The Madusa is a monster in the series.

Characteristics edit

Madusas are demonic floating eyes surrounded by a writhing mass of blue snakes with sharp fangs. Most of their body and the undersides of the snakes are orange. The eyelid surrounding its center eye is red and the eyes of its snakes are red, as well. They are capable of utilizing debilitating magic in battle to hamper their foes and in spinoff games, they gain the ability to place curses and even inflict petrification, much like their mythological inspiration.

In some games such as the 3D Monsters games and Builders 2, they grow to truly immense sizes. Although madusa makes regular appearances in spinoff games, they have yet to reappear in another main series game to date.

Trivia edit

  • Madusa and its green cousin are inspired by the Greek myth of Medusa and her sisters, known as the Gorgons. They appear as beautiful women with venomous snakes in the place of hair. Those who gazed into Medusa's eyes were turned to stone. In one myth, Medusa was originally a beautiful maiden but she had her hair transformed into snakes by the goddess Athena after she was violated by the god Posiedon in a temple that was sacred to Athena. She was eventually beheaded by the hero Perseus.

In some versions of the myth, Medusa's head became the shield Aegis and it could be used to petrify anyone who looked into her eyes.
