Rock salt is an item in Dragon Quest VIII. This mineral form of salt is used as an ingredient in alchemy, primarily for cheesemaking.

Rock salt can be found in various pots and barrels throughout the world, including Castle Trodain, Argonia, Arcadia, Pirate's Cove, Empycchu, Dark Empycchu, the Black Citadel, and the Dragovian Sanctuary. It can also be dropped commonly by Mud mannequins, Rockbombs, Bers, and Stone guardians. It cannot be purchased anywhere, but it can be sold for 6 gold. The rock salt can be mixed with various items in the Alchemy Pot:
