Staff of Rain
The Staff of Rain is a key item in the series. In both Dragon Quest and Dragon Quest III, it is exchanged in order to receive the Rainbow Drop, which is necessary for reaching the lair of the Demon Lord in both games.

The Staff of Rain can be obtained by trading the Lyre of Ire with the wizard in the Rain Shrine. The Staff of Rain and the Sunstone can be brought to the wizard in the Sanctum to obtain the Rainbow Drop, which is needed to reach the Dragonlord's island.

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation edit
The Staff of Rain has an Attack bonus of +16 and can be equipped by Mages, Priests, and Sages. It casts Fizzle when used as a tool in battle. The staff is given to the party by the woman in the shrine south of Cantlin, and is required to form the Rainbow Drop.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past edit
In the Nintendo 3DS version, the Staff of Rain has an Attack bonus of +88, a Style bonus of +46, and can be equipped by Maribel and Mervyn. When used as a tool in battle, it casts Coral Grief. It is received as a reward for the first-time completion of the A Voice from On High DLC Tablet.
Dragon Quest X edit
The Staff of Rain is a heavy wand with an Attack bonus of +7, a Style bonus of +3, a Magical Might bonus of +11, a Magical Mending bonus of +6, and has a MP absorption rate of 3.0%. It inflicts 10% extra damage to monsters of the Aquatic family. The staff has an equipment level of 14 and can be equipped by a Mage, Armamentalist, Sage, Druid, or Dragomancer. It can be crafted with woodworking.
Dragon Quest X Offline edit
The Staff of Rain has an Attack bonus of +11, a Charm bonus of +3, a Magical Might bonus of +7, a Magical Mending bonus of +6, and a MP absorption rate of 5.0%. It inflicts 10% extra damage to monsters of the Aquatic family. It can be equipped by the Hero as a Mage, Armamentalist, or Sage, and Fuura. The staff can be purchased for 550 gold from some shops or crafted with the Fun-Size Forge.
