Token taker

The Token taker is a monster in the series.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

Token takers are blue slot machines that have come to life, with three gold slot reels as eyes, a mouth filled with sharp fangs and long purple tongue, and a handle on their right side in the shape of a sceptre topped with a gold orb. Perched on top is a winged, horned skull. It moves about by levitating. The monsters try to get foolish gamblers to spend all of their tokens and then take their lives in exchange.

In battle, they can mesmerise opponents by emitting the alluring scent of gold and roll the slots in their eyes to unleash a variety of different effects such as healing adventurers with a restorative rain, granting them a jackpot of gold coins, exhaling a blast of ice-cold breath, or sending them to the hereafter with a curse.
