Zozagel

Zozagel is a character in the Dragon Quest series that appears as a boss encounter in Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation.

Characteristics

Although the mighty and mean Zozagel wears a gaudy golden and silver set of awesome armour befitting a knight, his battle style is more akin to that of a knave, using his strength and skills with a blade to beat down those weaker than him. In battle he poses a potent threat with serious skills such as the fearsome Flame Slash, Multislice to mutilate foes, along with Roundhouse Kick to knock them right off their feet.

Captain Zozagel is introduced as the tyrannical second-in-command of the Gallows Moor prison complex. He is the boss of the other prison guards and answers directly to Blackmar. He is feared by the prisoners and guards alike, infamous for ordering the execution of anyone who displeases him. While the party members are disguised as soldiers, Zozagel can be interacted with outside Blackmar's chamber. He rudely brushes off the party's request to speak to Blackmar, saying that only he can directly interact with the prison warden.

Captain Zozagel orders the execution of one of the prisoners. Before the execution can take place, the party interferes, defeating the soldiers in battle. At this point, the captain arrives alongside the executioner, Dogmus, and defeats the party in combat.

Later, the prisoners enact their rebellion by spiking the soldiers' wine. Zozagel can be found outside Blackmar's chamber, passed out. The player can optionally interact with Zozagel, who regains consciousness and engages the party in battle once more. This time, without his spell-casting lackey at his side, Zozagel is defeated easily by the player.
