Astrea's Abacus is a recurring weapon in the series. In Swords, it is a novelty weapon which can be used to earn extra money while equipped. It consists of an abacus calculating tool mounted at the end of a polearm. It is the signature weapon of Torneko Taloon in Dragon Quest IV.

The abacus was added in the 1996 remake and it increases a Merchant's attack by an immense +110. It is awarded to the player in exchange for 60 Mini medals

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen[edit | edit source]
The abacus increases Torneko's attack by +35, and casts Poof when used as an item in battle. It can be purchased in Mintos for 1,600 gold and sold for 1,200.
Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors[edit | edit source]
The Hero can purchase the abacus in Castle Avalonia from Minimoggie for 10 mini medals. It increases his attack by +15, and slightly raises the amount of money gained at the end of battle.
