The Bird of terrordise is a monster in the series.

Characteristics

Birds of terrordise are avian monsters with deep red plumage, powerfully built bodies, and a pair of golden curved horns atop their heads. They are able to breathe out both blazing fire and hellfire. The birds can also send adventurers into a state of utter chaos with Fuddle spells. Their scarlet plumage grants them a high amount of protection against fire spells and techniques. They typically make their habitats in volcanic regions.

Supposedly named after world champion strongman Terry Terrordise, who is said to have discovered them on his travels.

• Birds of terrordise must be defeated during Quest #167: Who's a Pretty Boy? in acquire a jewelry box and terrordise tail feather. They can only be encountered in high-level fire grottoes.

Dragon Quest X

Bird of terrordise began appearing in Version 4.3. They are able to cast Fuddle and breathe out both blazing fire and Hellfire.

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai: A Hero's Bonds

Bird of terrordise appeared as a boss that could be challenged in the Hall of Perdition starting on April 26th, 2022 in the Feather and Flames battle. Its special move is Trial by Fire, a powerful fire breath which it unleashes after a 10-second countdown unless it is interrupted or defeated first. A more powerful Breakbeast version was eventually added to the Hall of Perdition on October 26th, 2022.

• The bird of terrordise's name is a play on the bird-of-paradise, a member of the Paradisaeidae, found in Papua New Guinea and eastern Indonesia.
