The Black buzzard, also known as the Condor's claws, is a boomerang in the series.

The black buzzard is a boomerang made from sharp red metal with black and gold designs on the blades and a mauve handle with a green gem in the center.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King 3DS[edit | edit source]
The Black buzzard has an Attack bonus of +71, deals 60% extra damage to monsters of the Bug family, and can be equipped by the Hero and Morrie as long as they are level 30. It can be sold for 30,000 gold, but it is not recommended to do so as only one could be acquired in the game.
The boomerang was available as a special promotion for Japanese players through the convenience store Lawson from August 27th, 2015 to November 1st, 2015, eventually becoming available for all players through the Dragon Quest Portal App from December 2nd, 2015 to December 15th, 2015. It also became available to international players for a short time in September 2017, but after 2018, all DLC items for the 3DS version became unavailable through legitimate means.

Dragon Quest X [edit | edit source]
The Black buzzard has an Attack bonus of +51, a Style bonus of +10, and increases the wielder's Weight by 7. It inflicts an additional 10% damage to monsters of the Bug family. The boomerang has an equipment level of 50 and can be equipped by Sages, Rangers, Item Masters, Gadabouts, Pirates, and Hermits. It can be crafted by a weapon blacksmith or with the Fun-Size Forge in the Offline version of the game.

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below[edit | edit source]
Known as the Condor's claws in this game, it has an Attack bonus of +70, a Blocking bonus of +20, and can only be equipped by Isla. It can be purchased onboard the Stonecloud for 18,300 gold after the events at Dawnsholm.

- Buzzard is a collective term for any bird in the genus Buteo, and in American English is also describes members of the Cathartidae family (vultures)
- The Japanese name for the weapon, Black Condor is also the name of a main character in Chōjin Sentai Jetman. This would not be the first time Dragon Quest referenced the Super Sentai series, as the Ranger's accolades in the Japanese version of VI followed the naming pattern of the show.
