The Halloween king is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first introduced in Dragon Quest of the Stars. It is a King slime wearing a ghost costume in order to participate in Halloween festivities.

Characteristics

The Halloween king is a king slime wearing a ragged sheet over itself to look like a ghost in the fashion of a typical Halloween costume. He has also switched out his typical crown for one made out of dark metal with gold and dark orange fabric. Although the Halloween king describes himself as an evangoolist for the holiday, he is perplexed by the activities and customs since it is his first Halloween. He ends up developing a frightening reputation among his fellow monsters for his enthusiasm in playing tricks and scaring them.

Dragon Quest of the Stars

Introduced in the Halloween event of 2020 in the Japanese version of the game, the Halloween King had a chance to drop rare Halloween-themed food and upgrade orbs.

It eventually was reintroduced as a Monster Arena unit that excels in spell casting.

Dragon Quest Tact

Halloween king appears as an A-rank monster of the Slime family as part of the limited Trick or Treat - The Painting Beckons Woooooo! event. He will join the player in Chapter 1, Episode 1 of the event quests and he can be fully awakened by completing the quest at any difficulty. The Halloween king also stars in his own Battle Road and he can be faced in his own boss battle.
