The light shield is a recurring shield in the Dragon Quest series, designed to be a sturdy but feather-weight buckler. Due to its ease of use, a wide variety of characters are able to equip it.

The light shield has a defence bonus of +17 and can be equipped by all characters. It can be purchased at the Holy Isle of Neos, Baccarat, and Argonia for 2,250 gold and sold for 1,225 gold. It can also be used in the Alchemy Pot to make a white shield by combining it with two jars of fresh milk or the shamshir of light by combining one with a shimmering dress and a rune staff.
