Mudraker

From Dragon Quest Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

The Mudraker is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest V. It is an amorphous mass of mud that has been brought to life.

Description[edit | edit source]

Mudrakers are mud elementals that erupt from the ground to slap at enemies with their newly formed mashing arms. They're capable of casting Kabuff in order to harden their muddy clay skin and prevent it from cracking mid-battle. Their freaky faces seem like they're constantly melting and dripping, with massive mouths that they sometimes spend turns laughing madly with and odd eyes that they'll just spend battle time staring. Much like the Muddy hand, mudrakers have sometimes been classified as members of the Undead family and as such, take extra damage from skills such as Undead Undoer. According to their descriptions in IX and X, they are formed from the souls of the dead dwelling in mud. Sunlight is their natural enemy as it can harden their bodies. Their names are a combination of the words "mud", which their bodies are composed of, and "muckraker".
