The Night knight is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest VII. It is a heavily armoured skeletal warrior adept at both swordplay and sorcery.
Night knights are large skeletal swordsmen wearing a set of dark blue and purple armour, wielding a round shield in its left hand and a wicked broadsword in its right hand. On their shoulders, they wear ragged blue capes with red lining that drag along the ground. They are former kings that have forced their subjects to follow them even into the afterlife. The knights are able to focus their strength and unleash grievous blows with their enormous swords. They also possess the ability to heal themselves and their allies completely with a Fullheal spell. The knights have an affinity for the cold of the grave, in some games having the ability to emit blasts of freezing air or cast powerful ice magic against their foes. When the night knights appeared in Monsters: Joker 2, they traded in their broadswords to wield a Headsman's axe instead.
