The Scions of Erdrick are the party of Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line and the first group in the Dragon Quest series. They are descendants of Alefgard's original Hero and Tantegel's Princess Gwaelin, as well as the Legendary Hero, Erdrick. Their quest is to take down the evil sorcerer Hargon and the Demon Lord Malroth.

In the Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, the Princess of Cannock is added as a party member.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line[edit | edit source]

Members[edit | edit source]

  • The Prince of Midenhall (Originally The Prince of Lorasia: This is the classic warrior of the three heroes. He can use any armour and weapon in the game. He has no magic ability (this is the only game in the series in which this is the case for their respective Hero), but his physical Attack and Defence are the greatest of the three scions. This is the character the player beings with, in the castle of Midenhall. His name is directly selected by the player.
    • His level cap is 50, and his icon is blue.
  • The Prince of Cannock (Originally The Prince of Samantoria): The second Prince is a blend of the classic warrior and priest archetypes. He cannot use as wide a variety of weapons and armour as the prince of Lorasia but compensates for this with the ability to use magic. However, it should be noted that his magic is not as powerful as that wielded by the princess of Moonbrooke, although he is better at healing magic. This character is hard to track down, but is a great ally. His name (and stats, in the original version) is (usually) generated at random based on the name of the Prince of Midenhall, although there is a cheat code to alter his name.
    • His Level cap in most versions of the game is 45 and and 50 as of the Cell phone & Switch port. His icon is green.
    • Potential names include:
      • Japanese version: Arthur (アーサー), Cain (カイン), Cookie (クッキー), Conan (コナン), Sukesan (すけさん), Tonnura (トンヌラ), Paul (パウロ), Rand (ランド)
      • English version: Bran, Glynn, Talint, Numor, Lars, Orfeo, Artho, Esgar
      • GBC version: Frey, John, Art, Gary, Karl, Eric, Drew, Paul; though it is possible to manually change his name by putting in a code at the title screen.
      • Cell phone and Switch versions: Arthur, Caradoc, Conrad, Kain, Randolph, Sigurd, Thomas, Paul; his name can also be manually entered shortly after the prologue. They are picked randomly, and are not related to the Hero's name.
      • In the Quester's Rest of Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies, he appears as a special guest with the name Princeton.
      • In Dragon Quest of the Stars his name is Caradoc.
      • In Dragon Quest Tact his name is Rickerd, an anagram of Erdrick. In the Japanese version, his name is Tonnura.
      • Various books refer to him as Cain (カイン) or Cookie (クッキー).
  • The Princess of Moonbrooke: Moonbrooke's Princess is the classic wizard of the three heroes and the first playable heroine in the series. She can use few types of armour and weapons in the game. She shares some of the Prince of Cannock's magic, but also has several powerful damage spells. She has been cursed and needs to be freed before she will be able to join her cousins. Like the Prince of Cannock, her name is determined at random, but can be changed by a cheat code. Her HP is low, and she can only equip a few items, but she gains a wide repertoire of spells and has high MP and Agility.
    • Her Level cap in most versions of the game is 35, and 50 as of the Cell phone & Switch port. Her icon is red.
    • The Princess's names (and stats, in the original version) are also randomly selected based on the Hero's name.
      • Japanese version: Eileen (アイリン), Akina (あきな), Samantha (サマンサ), Nana (ナナ), Purin (プリン), Maiko (まいこ), Maria (マリア), Linda (リンダ)
      • English version. They are Maria, Elani, Ollisa, Roz, Kailin, Peta, Illyth, Gwen.
      • GBC version: Erin, Mary, Nana, Beth, Fran, Gwen, Lynn, Sara; can also be chosen manually by putting in a code at the title screen.
      • Cell phone and Switch versions: Eileen, Elaine, Fleurette, Ginny, Isolde, Lynda, Maria, Peronel; her name can also be manually entered shortly after the prologue.. They are picked randomly, and are not related to the Hero's name.
      • In the Quester's Rest of Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies, she appears as a special guest with the name Princessa.
      • In Itadaki Street DS and Dragon Quest of the Stars, she is known as Pudding.
      • In Fortune Street, her name is Princessa or Pudding.
      • In Dragon Quest Tact her name is Peronel in English and Pudding in Japanese.
      • The novel switches things up by calling her Seria, a name not found in the games.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake[edit | edit source]

Entering "もょもと" as the Hero's name after unlocking the true ending will set the Prince of Cannock's name to "Sigurd", the Princess of Moonbrooke's name to "Eileen" (one of her original eight default names), and the Princess of Cannock's name to "Matilda".
