Leg Sweep is an ability in the series.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

This ability attempts to trip either a single enemy or a group of enemies for a single turn. Naturally, the ability will fail against Floating enemies. In some games, it is performed with a staff.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake[edit | edit source]

Leg Sweep costs 1 MP to use and has a 2⁄3 chance of knocking down an enemy for a single turn. It is ineffective against floating monsters. Leg Sweep can be learned by a Martial Artist starting at level 3.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen[edit | edit source]

Although the skill cannot be selected manually, Leg Sweep is one of the actions that Torneko can perform when he goofs off. It will attempt to stun a single enemy for one turn.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit | edit source]

Leg Sweep costs 0 MP to use and attempts to stun a single enemy for one turn. It is learned at rank 1 as a Martial Artist and can be learned by the Mud mannequin at level 7 in the Super Famicom version. On the enemy side, it can be used by Garrett, Dead resident, Undentured servant, Averill, Skullrider, and Terry.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit | edit source]

Leg Sweep once again costs no MP to use and attempts to stun a single enemy for one turn. It is learned by reaching rank 2 as a Martial Artist.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined[edit | edit source]

Leg Sweep costs 1 MP to use, damaging a single enemy and attempting to knock them down for a single turn. It is learned once again by advancing to rank 2 as a Martial Artist.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit | edit source]

Leg Sweep attempts to stun a single character for one turn. It can only be used by enemy Skullriders and the recruitable infamous monster Jockey.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit | edit source]

Known as Trip of a Deathtime in this game, it costs 0 MP to use and attempts to trip one group of enemies for a single turn. It is learned by investing 7 skill points into the Staff Skill.

Dragon Quest X [edit | edit source]

Leg Sweep costs 2 MP to use and has a 75% chance of knocking down all enemies within a five meter radius in front of the user for 11~13 seconds. It can be learned by a Priest, Martial Artist, Minstrel, Fortune Teller, and Death Master by investing 7 skill points into the Staff skill.

Dragon Quest X Offline[edit | edit source]

Leg Sweep costs 2 MP to use and attempts to knock down a single group of enemies for one turn. It can be learned by the Hero as a Priest, Martial Artist, or Minstrel, and Mjoll through the Staffs panel in their Character Builders for a single skill point. The success rate can be increased further with Skill-Up Panels.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit | edit source]

Leg Sweep costs 1 MP to use and attempts to knock down a single enemy for a turn. It can be learned by Jade through the Fisticuffs panel in her Character Builder for 5 skill points and is located near the center.

Dragon Quest Monsters[edit | edit source]

LegSweep costs 1 MP to use and attempts to trip a single enemy, stunning them for one turn. It can be learned naturally by Goopi, Grizzly, MadCat, Skulrider, Slabbit, StagBug, and WildApe as long as they are level 6 with 32 max HP, 31 ATK, and and 48 AGL. LegSweep will evolve into BigTrip when the monster reaches level 12 with 66 max HP and 63 ATK.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2[edit | edit source]

LegSweep still costs 1 MP to use and attempts to stun a single enemy for a turn. It has the same level and attribute requirements as before, but is no longer naturally learned by WildApe.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit | edit source]

The Hero's downward-tilt attack strongly resembles Leg Sweep, the main difference being that it damages the target as well as knocking them off balance. The Hero kicks forward while leaning after a six frame charge, dealing 7% damage with a range longer than his neutral attack. An opponent swept off their feet will be sent upwards and give players the start of a combo.
