—Gringham Whip card from Dragon Quest: Scan Battlers
The Gringham whip is a whip in the series.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
The Gringham whip is often the most powerful whip in each game and frequently has one of the highest Attack bonuses of all weapons. It has had three distinctive designs throughout the series' history.
- In Dragon Quest V and Dragon Quest VI, as well as the Super Famicom version of Dragon Quest III, the whip has a beautiful silver and gold handle with a filigree design, decorated with various red and blue gemstones, and featured three lashes with deadly blades at the ends.
- The Gringham whip from Dragon Quest VII has a blue and teal-coloured handle with three lashes, each with a sharp arrowhead-shaped blade at the end, as well as another arrowhead-shaped blade on the end of the handle. This design is used in remake versions of Dragon Quest IV, Dragon Quest V, and Dragon Quest VI, as well as the HD-2D Remakes.
- The Gringham whip from Dragon Quest VIII has a red and gold handle and three teal cords braided into a single lash with three arrowhead-shaped blades at the end, along with one of the same blades on the back of the handle. This was done for all whips to share the same attack animations.
