Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road II

Dragon Quest Monster Battle Road II (ドラゴンクエスト モンスターバトルロードII, Doragon Kuesuto Monsutā Batoru Rōdo II?) is an arcade game and the sequel to Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road. It was released in Japanese arcades on December 3rd, 2008 and was playable until January 15th, 2010. Like the previous game, the gameplay centers around players battling monsters with the use of real-life cards that are scanned by the arcade machine. The sequel improved on certain game mechanics from the original game and added both new story chapters and cards.

On December 31st, 2010, Monster Battle Road would cease operation and be completely replaced by Monster Battle Road II in arcades.

Gameplay edit

Monster Battle Road II is centered around battles with monsters from across the Dragon Quest series. Battles take place in a coliseum and the monsters either can come from the game or from cards the player can insert into the machine itself. The player character can be customised with item cards, which are new to this game. One of the new additions is also a duel system which can be done in player-vs-player matches, Demon Lord, or Archfiend battles.

In August 2009, Square Enix announced that Monster Battle Road II machines would be able to connect with Dragon Quest IX through StreetPass and allow players to download legacy boss maps starting on September 11th, later that month. Players who were able to challenge the Dragonlord would be given a chance to download the Dragonlord's Map to their game.
