Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit | edit source]
Wiggles is an insect that Buddy, the man living in the biggest house in Nottagen, found clinging to one of the writhing roots during the Malign vine's attack. He was very small and vulnerable, so Buddy decided to take him in as a pet and he has begun to grow at an alarming rate. However, this unnerves the people of Nottagen, fearing that someday Wiggles will grow into yet another monster that would threaten their town. The party visits Nottagen in the past for a third time since it remains in ruins in the present and find Buddy lovingly caring for Wiggles in his home. However, just as the party leaves Buddy's home, a group of townspeople barge in and confront Buddy over his new pet, telling him that a monster has no place in their town. Buddy refuses to budge, stating that Wiggles is perfectly harmless and has done nothing to threaten the people of Nottagen. Just then, one of the men angrily rushes Buddy, causing Wiggles to jump up and try defending his master. Wiggles's sudden outburst startles the townspeople and they storm out in fear. Buddy is grateful that Wiggles tried defending him, but worries that the two of them are now in trouble.
At the center of Nottagen, a group of townspeople have gathered to discuss how they are going to handle Wiggles. The man who attacked Buddy in his home asks the Hero if they are willing to exterminate the monster, since they have already defeated both Sulkk and the Malign vine. The story will branch at this point depending on the player's choices.
