The Heligator is a recurring monster in the DQSeries, first appearing in Dragon Quest VIII. It is a bizarre flying creature that is a cross between a dog and an alligator.
Characteristics
The heligator is a monster that is a cross between an alligator and a dragon with canine features, floating about in midair as if it is swimming through water. It has a brown hide with a tan underside, shaggy red manes, a long tail, and a jaw filled with sharp fangs. Heligator's Japanese name is combination pun based on wani (ワニ), the Japanese word for alligator or crocodile, and wyvern, a type of dragon. Depending on the game, it is either considered a beast or a dragon.

It has a brown hide with a tan underside, shaggy red manes, a long tail, and a jaw filled with sharp fangs.
