| First appearance | Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker |
Dr Snapped is the final main boss of Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker and Dr. Snap's monster form. His appearance, at the very top of Infern Mountain, is a horrific reddish-pink creature with a head in the form of a hand (which is constantly moving). His face is placed on the large hand and his purple tongue is always out. Also, his stomach has a vortex-like mouth with teeth encircling it. He can be fused as a playable monster, but has the most complex synthesis chain in the game.
Appearances[edit | edit source]
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker[edit | edit source]
Dr. Snapped, as players might guess, is a very difficult boss if not properly prepared. He battles with a Tortured soul and a Demon-at-arms on either side of him. His Wave of Disruption spell will instantly negate any Psyche Up or Buff-ing of any monster in the party. Like many bosses, he goes twice in one turn and, after enough damage, Meditation will heal him just when players feel they are on their last legs.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3[edit | edit source]
Dr. Snapped features as a two-slot Rank X/SS monster of the ??? family, synthesized using Boshock, Bundold, Azamook, and Itaburu. He 'evolves' through synthesis into Snapped-Off, and can be further 'evolved' into Snapped-Almighty, which is also the final boss of the main story of the game.
Monster Library Description (fan translation): "A man who was obsessed with monsters extracted their power source and bathed in it. his form is scary, but his mood is cheerful."
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 Professional[edit | edit source]
Details unknown.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland[edit | edit source]
Details unknown.
Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key[edit | edit source]
His monster library description was incorrectly translated in the first fan translation patch: "A monster-loving man transformed when showed with magic. His eyes show his regret." This was fixed in v0.2 into: "Monster-loving man who was transformed after immersing himself in the essence of monster power. he looks scary but his mood remains cheerful."
Further details unknown.

Keshi Keshi[edit | edit source]
Dr Snapped appears in the April 2023 event "Dr Snap's Ambition and the Running Incarnus". He is the boss of the final chapter.
You can obtain his Eraser by defeating him a certain amount of times as a "batokeshi"- a random chance Wanted poster monster that can appear after completing any story stage during the event. When used by the player, he's a Purple type Eraser and his special move is Kazammle, a large darkness attack that clears an area of effect around him.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Dr. Snapped's battle theme is a remix of Milly's boss theme from Dragon Quest Monsters.
- Amusingly, it is possible (if unlikely) to synthesize him before Dr. Snap even transforms, leading you to own a monster that, by all means, shouldn't exist.
- Solitaire owns this monster in Joker 2, however this should be impossible since he requires Captain Crow to be made, whom there's only one of him in the in-game world, and he joins the player (or wanders the land, if the player never defeats him). This is the exact same story with Ace of Spades and the Incarnus.
- In the Japanese version of Joker Captain Crow cannot be rematched in the same save file, thus it requires multiplayer play to create a Dr. Snapped.
- He's one of the few final bosses in Dragon Quest who is accompanied by other monsters: a Tortured Soul and a Demon-at-Arms. They also appear alongside him in his appearance in Tact, in the challenge match Polluted By Dark Matter: Dr Snapped.
- In DQ Tact, his passive ability is mistranslated as Nadirian Gate instead of Dark World Gate, unintentionally implying DQMJ has a connection to the mainline series. He also says "by the Goddess!" despite coming from a game that didn't contain her. Neither reference exists in the Japanese text.
- In Japanese he has a distinctive laugh of "nyahaha" and a more cutesy personality across both human and monster form. The only time this catchphrase has been retained in English media is in Dragon Quest Tact where it is rendered as "nyeh heh heh".
- His default English nicknames in DQMJ are Snappo, Snapper, Snappy and Mr Snapp.
- In Japanese they’re Garu-kun, Garukichi, Garujiro, Garutoshi, Garuo, Garunosuke, (male) Garu-tan, Garu-pyon, Garu-chan, Garue, Garuko, Garunyan (female) Garu Red, Garu Blue, Garu Green, Garu Yellow, Garu Pink, Garucchi and Garugaru (neutral gender).
- His DQMJ3 model erroneously lacks teeth.
