Characteristics
Characteristics
Equipped with almost every bit of paraphernalia one can think of being owned by a stereotypical demon, the monster bears wings, horns, a spiked tail, and a pitchfork. It wears a pair of green gloves and boots. With stats to match its bulky purple body, these monsters are usually a force to be reckoned with; capable of dealing heavy physical hits, but also casting advanced offensive magics to destroy its opponents. It has particular affinity for explosive magic, being commonly associated with the spell Kaboom. In many bestiaries where the Archdemon appears, it is stated that the Minidemons are the juvenile forms of Archdemons even though, with the exception of V, their colours do not match up. The Imp, however, has a purple color scheme, which is used by the Minidemon in V.

Archdemons first appear in Version 1.0 of the game in the boss battle against Nelgel. After taking a certain amount of damage, he will summon a pair of archdemons and a Belial to fight against the adventurers. They are able to deflect attacks with their pitchforks and have their familiar ability to cast Kaboom, which has a high chance of going haywire when they are enraged. Starting with Version 4.0, archdemons gained a rarefied version in the form of the Dessert demon.

|in-game-description=A mightly muscular monster with a distinctly menacing bent. Some claim that archdemons are simply adult imps, though this theory remains unproven. Archdemons do not have any special attacks, but they are extremely strong both offensively and defensively and have an enormous number of HP. You will definitely take a lot of damage while battling one of these, so be sure to heal yourself on a regular basis. Challenging as it is, defeating an archdemon will earn you an huge amount of experience, so it's worth seeking them out if you're trying to level up quickly.

The Archdemon is a monster in the series.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

Archdemons are large, bulky bipedal demons with pinkish-purple skin, a large pair of wings on their back, a pair of horns on their heads, and a pointy tail. It wears a pair of green gloves and boots and wields a pitchfork. These monsters are usually a force to be reckoned with; capable of dealing heavy physical hits, but also casting advanced offensive magics to destroy its opponents. It has a particular affinity for explosive magic, being commonly associated with the spell Kaboom. In the monster descriptions of the archdemon from various games, it is stated that the minidemons are the juvenile forms of archdemons even though, with the exception of V, their colours do not match up. The imp, however, has a purple colour scheme, which is used by the minidemon in V.

Description Fearsome demons capable of casting some truly explosive spells. Some theorize that these monsters are the adult form of minidemons.
Notable changes in the remake
 • A friendly archdemon residing in Tryan Gully informs the party that David was only to be told of his connection to the Seven Sages when ready.

Dragon Quest X [edit | edit source]

Archdemons first appear in Version 1.0 of the game in the boss battle against Nelgel. After taking a certain amount of damage, he will summon a pair of archdemons and a Belial to fight against the adventurers. They can deflect attacks with their pitchforks and have their familiar ability to cast Kaboom, which has a high chance of going haywire when they are enraged. Starting with Version 4.0, archdemons gained a rarefied version in the form of the dessert demon.

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai[edit | edit source]

Archdemons appear as part of the Dark Army, typically as the personal guard of Dark Commander Hadlar. When Hadlar confronts the heroes on Valge Island, there are individual archdemons seen wielding flails instead of their usual pitchforks. In the 2020 anime series, these flail-wielding demons now have blue skin and wear purple gloves and boots. They appear to be stronger than their pink-skinned counterparts.

Description A mightly muscular monster with a distinctly menacing bent.
