Dragon Quest Heroes II (ドラゴンクエストヒーローズII 双子の王と予言の終わり, Doragon Kuesuto Hīrōzu Tsū Futago no Oh to Yogen no Owari, Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End) is a sequel to the spinoff game, Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below with a new world setting and narrative. It is one of the games celebrating the Dragon Quest series' 30th anniversary.

The game was released in Japan for the PlayStation 3 on May 26, 2016, in North America on April 25, 2017, and in Europe on April 28, 2017, for the PlayStation 4. Outside of Japan, it was released without a subtitle.

The Microsoft Windows Version was released on April 28, 2017 (for 64-bit; 7, 8, 8.1, 10 supported). The Windows version is not sold to Japanese residents.^[1]

Downloadable content includes costumes, weapons, and multiplayer options. Items included in the later released Explorer's Edition are Slime Knight's Shield, Great Sabreclaws, Robo-Bow, Slime Stack Stick, Imp Fork, Plat o' One Tails, Golem Gauntlets, Drackerang, Goodybag Abacus, Shadowblade, Gem Slime Sword, Night Club, Robo-Razor, Royal Flush, and Archdemon Arcs.

Story[edit | edit source]

Once upon a time, many years ago, there was a long and terrible war. When the war finally ended, the people of the world made a solemn pact never to fight again. The world was divided into seven realms, and peace reigned for a thousand years.

One day, cousins and fellow knights-in-training Lazarel and Teresa reunite in the Kingdom of Harba, far from their Dunisian home. Little do they suspect that the Dunisian army is about to invade, with their old friend Prince Cesar at the helm.

The long-kept peace is broken and the world descends into chaos. With the aid of the High King’s envoy, the cousins must travel to Accordia for a meeting with the Supreme Sovereign of the Seven Realms to find a solution and bring back peace to the world!

Save Data sharing[edit | edit source]

For PlayStation family versions, cross-platform play is possible, and save data sharing is present. Having save data from:

DQH1 grants Luceus and Aurora costumes for this game's protagonists.
Dragon Quest Builders save data grants "Builders Wooden Hammer" for the protagonists' use. ^[2]

Game Naming / Marketing Differences[edit | edit source]

The Steam release does not include the Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End text anywhere on the page, instead being listed as Dragon Quest Heroes II Explorer's Edition This is similar to Dragon Quest Heroes, which was listed as "Slime Edition" and included some low-powered slime-based starter weapons that interact with Healix. Dragon Quest Heroes II also claims to contain multiple DLC.

Nintendo Switch[edit | edit source]

A Nintendo Switch version was also announced and will be released combined with the first game as Dragon Quest Heroes I + II. Ragnar has been added to the main cast of the second game and Malroth can be faced as a superboss, as well.
