The Salamarauder is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest IX. It is a stronger, pale variant of the Wooper trooper that has taken up piracy.

Like wooper troopers, salamarauders are small amphibian warriors based off the axolotl, their paler complexion making them more reminiscent of the real-life animal. Reappearing from 7.1 onwards, they are encountered in the Hadin Underground Cave, as well as Kyuron Hills in 7.4. In addition to using Wooper Tackle and Gale Slash, their Cool Breath is upgraded to Freezing Blizzard.

Salamarauder appeared in the 10th card pack, "Frontier of Creation and Destruction" as a rare card exclusive for Thief leaders.

Salamarauder appears as an A-rank monster of the Nature family during the second part of the limited "Scintillating Summer Hols! Swimwear, Waves, and Watermelons!" event. It will join the party in Chapter 2, Episode 1 of the event quests and it can be fully awakened by completing the quest at any difficulty.
