The Div is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first introduced in Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past and later featured in the remake versions of Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen.

Description[edit | edit source]

Divs are a demonic species that exhibit features of both birds and gargoyles, having dark indigo skin, a large pair of bat-like wings on their backs, a long pair of curved horns and golden manes on their heads, and grasping talons as feet. They are dangerous opponents, only appearing near the end of the game in both IV and VII. Their wings allow them to perform acrobatic dive bomb attacks on their foes and they can be agile enough to act twice in a single turn. The winged demons are wily combatants as well, casting Bounce on themselves to thwart enemy spellcasters and protecting their allies against breath attacks with Insulatle. They possess a strong resilience to Fuddle, Dazzle, Crack-attribute magic, and outright immunity to Snooze.
