Prior to the May 23rd, 2025 update patch Priests were unable to don the hat.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit | edit source]

In the SFC version, the hat increases Defence by +25 and can be found in the bowels of Mt. Zugzwang and is dropped by the Wrecktor at a rate of 1/128. Bianca and Madchen can equip it, along with a handful of monsters.

The hat has been removed entirely from the PS2, DS, and Cell phone device versions.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit | edit source]

The hat fortunately appears in all versions of VI, increasing Defence by +25 and Style by just +2. It may be donned by Milly, Ashlynn, Nevan, and the Slime buddies. The pudgedevil and metal king slime drop the hat at a rate of 1/256, meaning that even with a whole team of Thieves would only have a 3.125% chance to swipe one. Fortunately, one can be found in a chest hidden away in Reaper's Peak.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit | edit source]

It increases Defense by 25 points, and Style points by 2. It can be found in a treasure chest in the Cave to Yet Another World. It also has a 1/128th chance of being dropped by the hirsute hexer, who appears in the same dungeon. Maribel, Ruff and Sir Mervyn can equip it. It can be sold for 3850 gold coins.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined[edit | edit source]

The duplic hat boosts defence by 25 points, magical might by 15 points, and magical mending by 15 points. The duplica hat has a 10% chance to echo spells. It can be equipped by Maribel, Ruff, and Sir Mervyn. This hat cannot be purchased, but it has a sale price of 3850 gold coins. It can be obtained as a prize from the Lucky Panel minigame in Pilgrim's Rest in the present, and it can be dropped by the hirsute hexers.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit | edit source]

The cap does not appear in IX, but its effects are replicated by the secret Twocus Pocus skill a Sage can use after placing the Sage's Scripture scroll in their inventory.
