The ice shield is a recurring shield in the Dragon Quest series. It protects against cold in modern games, but originally reduced fire damage. The ice shield is the frigid counterpart to the flame shield.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit | edit source]
The ice shield increases Defence by +24, Style by +17, and cuts Frizz, Sizz, Bang, and Fire Breath damage by 20 points. It is sold in Buccanham for 3,800 gold coins, and can be equipped by Hero, Kiefer, Ruff, and Aishe.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit | edit source]

The ice shield offers a Defense bonus of +33, cuts ice damage by 5 points, and casts an ice-specific version of Insulatle when used as an item. It can be equipped by the Hero and Angelo in all versions of the game, and by Red in the 3DS port.
Recipe: magic shield + icicle dirk
The shield can also be purchased at Orkutsk for 8,500 gold coins and sold for 4,300.
