The Archdemon is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series and was introduced in Dragon Quest II.

Characteristics

Equipped with almost every bit of paraphernalia one can think of being owned by a stereotypical demon, the monster bears wings, horns, a spiked tail, and a pitchfork. It wears a pair of green gloves and boots. With stats to match its bulky purple body, these monsters are usually a force to be reckoned with; capable of dealing heavy physical hits, but also casting advanced offensive magics to destroy its opponents. It has particular affinity for explosive magic, being commonly associated with the spell Kaboom. In many bestiaries where the Archdemon appears, it is stated that the Minidemons are the juvenile forms of Archdemons even though, with the exception of DQV, their colors do not match up. The Imp, however, has a purple color scheme, which is used by the Minidemon in DQV.

Archdemon first appears in Version 1.0 of the game in the boss battle against Nelgel. After taking a certain amount of damage, he will summon a pair of archdemons and a Belial to fight against the adventurers.
