The Bad egg is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series that was introduced in Dragon Quest VII.

Characteristics

The bad egg is an unknown monstrous egg with an evil eye and a small, sneaky red-lipped smile peering through the crack in the white shell. It rolls into battle and is ready to hatch into all sorts of weird and wonderful strange species. It's impossible to tell which kind of monster it will actually be until it hatches, if it gets a chance to before the battle ends.

Upon hatching:

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2

The player may receive a bad egg as their starting monster. It is, along with the capsichum, one of the only starting monsters that can't be scouted later and must instead be synthesized (e.g. mixing a ghost with a komodo). Bad eggs can still be seen outside of battle, dwelling in the hades condor nests in Cragravation, but cannot be fought. The bad egg is a Rank F monster.
