Due to text restrictions in the {{Game Boy Color}} remake of {{Dragon Quest}}, the bamboo pole was renamed to '''Bamboo''' with a picture of a pole beside it. Additionally, the {{Hero 1}} starts his quest with it in the [[Cell phone]] and {{Switch}} versions of the game, although it is not equipped.

The Bamboo pole is a spear in the series.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

The pole is a simple weapon that consists of little more than a length of bamboo with one end chopped and sharpened to a point. In some illustrations, it has a rudimentary grip made of cloth near the base. The bamboo pole's position as the weakest weapon in the game would be taken over in subsequent games by the Cypress stick.
