The demonrider is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest VI. It is a ninja-like monster that rides on the back of a skeletal beast.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
The devilish demonrider loves to slide into battle on their skull beast and slash through foes with flurries of its blades, slicing all party members in on go, sometimes even attacking twice in a single turn. The riders are squad little monsters with pale yellow skin that wear red ninja clothing with indigo hoods and a scabbard for their curved swords strapped to their backs. Their skeletal steeds, along with those of its palette swaps, appear to be made from the bones of Lesser demons, even continuing to walk about in the same fashion as them. In later appearances, the demonriders gained an affinity for ice attacks, being able to perform Kacrackle Slash with their scimitars and spur their steeds to breath out blasts of freezing cold breath from their skulls. Depending on the game, the demonriders are considered part of the Demon family or members of the Undead family due to their skeletal steeds.
