Lost souls appeared from the beginning of the game, retaining their familiar ability to self-destruct to damage anyone in the surrounding area or will waste their turns when they can't make up their minds. They have also gained the ability to place curses on opponents, as well.

Dragon Quest Tact
Lost soul appears as a C-rank monster of the Undead family as part of the Dragon Quest VIII event. It can be recruited from the Isolated Plateau stage from Journey of the Cursed King at any difficulty, eventually becoming recruitable in Part 3 of the main storyline from Chapter 8, Episode 1: Jewel's Notice. The lost soul can participate in the Trap box's Battle Road as a party member.
