The Bomboulder is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride, it is a reddish variant of a Rockbomb and is known for casting Kerplunk.
Characteristics
Usually stronger than Rockbombs, at least in terms of stamina, Bomboulders further differentiate themselves from their equally suicidal brethren by expending their lives to support their comrades instead of doing so in an attempt to wipe out the enemy. They achieve this with their knowledge of the spell Kerplunk, making them bothersome opponents when attempting to dispose of a large group of monsters.
In the DS remakes of the Zenithia trilogy, they are further distinguished from their Rockbomb cousins by having a full grin instead of gaped teeth.
Appearances
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King
