The shellmet is a recurring piece of headwear in the Dragon Quest series that first appeared in Dragon Quest V. It appears to be the shell of a seaslime and offers a decent amount of protection to wearers at the cost of a little dignity.
Appearances
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride
The shellmet has a defence bonus of +7. It can be bought for 150 gold at the item shop in Coburg, found in a chest in Coburg castle's dungeon, and has a 1/64 chance of being dropped by Old man of the sea. It can only be worn by slime companions.
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation
Shellmets have a defence bonus of +7 and a style bonus of +3. Nevan, Amos, Lizzie, and all slime allies with the exception of Goowain can equip it. Seaslimes drop them 1/64 of the time. They can be purchased for 250 gold in Aridea, Scrimsley, and Pescado. They can also be sold for 187 gold.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past
The shellmet has a defence bonus of +8 and a style bonus of +3. It can be equipped by the Hero, Kiefer, Maribel, and Ruff. One can be found in the home of Professor Autonymus.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined
The shellmet increases defence by 10 points. It can be equipped by the Hero, Kiefer, Maribel, and Ruff. It's purchase price is 250 gold coins and it's sale price is 125 gold coins. It can be obtained in the past in L'Arca and in the Pilgrim's Rest in the past, by playing the Lucky Panel minigame. Men o' war can sometimes drop it.
