The bodkin bowyer is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first introduced in Dragon Quest IV. These yellow-hooded variants of the bodkin archer can rain a flurry of arrows on foes and inflict various status effects.
Bodkin bowyers are small goblin-like creatures with purple skin that don green robes and yellow hoods instead of the normal brown. Their golden-colored hoods indicate that they are among the strongest of the bodkins, only being surpassed later by the bodkin bloodbow.
They carry brown shortbows and their arrows have yellow fletchings. Their arrows are laced with various toxins that can either put unfortunate adventurers to sleep, or inflict paralysis, depending on the title, and they also deliver a Rain of Pain, as well. As a last resort, the bowyers will call for help from more of their kind to assist them.
Great archers in spite of their size. Capable of surrounding opponents and unleashing a fusillade of arrows upon them. When trouble beckons, they swiftly call for reinforcements.
Bodkin bowyers appeared from the beginning of the game. They regained their ability to put enemies to Sleep with their attacks, along with being able to unleash a Rain of Pain and call for backup from more of their kind.
Evil elfin fiends who wield a bow and arrow better than any other breed of bodkin. Only those who have reached the apex of archery are allowed to wear the yellow hood of the bodkin bower.
Bodkin bowyer appears as an A-rank monster of the demon family as part of the original Dragon Quest IV event alongside Kiryl on his banner. It could eventually be scouted from any limited banner, as well. The bodkin bowyer can participate in Rashaverak's Battle Road as a party member.
