Characteristics edit
This armour is chain mail made for the upper body. It has a different design than the rest of the series, being a mail coat with long sleeves and lacings on the front. Instead of shoulder pads, a gorget is worn around the neck. In some games, it is also worn with a pair of wristbands.

The Chain mail top has a Defence bonus of +9, a Style bonus of +4, increases the wearer's Weight by 10, and has an equipment level of 14. It can be equipped by Warriors, Priests, Martial Artists, Thieves, Minstrels, Gladiators, Paladins, Rangers, Monster Wranglers, Item Masters, Dancers, Demon Swordsmen, Pirates, Guardians, and Armamentalists if they have allocated enough points into their Fource skill.
The entire set consists of the top and bottom, chain headgear, chain bracers, and chain boots. It can be made by an armour blacksmith. If all five pieces are equipped, the wearer gains an extra +10 bonus to Style.

Dragon Quest X Offline edit
The Chain mail top has a Defence bonus of +11, an Agility bonus of +4, and a Charm bonus of 7. It can be equipped by the Hero as a Warrior, Priest, Martial Artist, Thief, Minstrel, Gladiator, Paladin, Ranger, or Dancer, as well as Mjoll, Hussar, Raguas, Duston, and Anlucia. It can be purchased from various armour shops or made with the Fun-Size Forge.

The Chain mail top is 2★ armour with a Defence bonus of +6. It is received as a reward for completing Chapter 1, Episode 2 of the story.
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai: A Hero's Bonds edit
The Chain Mail (Top) is 2★ armour that can be equipped by the Luminary Leader as a Hero, Warrior, or Martial Artist, as well as Dai, Avan, Hyunckel, Crocodine, Baran, Larhart, and Nova. At level 35, it has a Physical Defence bonus of +43 and a Magical Defence bonus of +41. It could occasionally be received from treasure hunts, as well as by completing Chapter 2, Episode 8 - The Disciples Depart (Beginner).
