Poof is learned by Priests and Sages at level 2 and by the Hero at level 6, and costs 2 MP to cast.
Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen edit
Poof is learned by the Hero at level 1. It costs 3 MP to cast. It can also be cast for free by using astraea's abacus as an item in combat.

| Pip fighter | 5 |
| Slime | 7 |
| Grudgerigar | 15 |
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation edit
Poof is already known by Nevan upon joining the party. Other characters can obtain it at the first rank of the Priest vocation. Poof uses a 50%, 20%, 10% & 0% resistance table, making it less effective than previous games.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past edit
Poof is already known by Sir Mervyn when he joins the party. Once again, other characters can learn it at rank one as a Priest. VII uses the same battle system as the previous game, meaning Poof's utility is scant.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age edit
The Luminary will learn the spell for 8 points in his Luminary skill tree. It costs 2 MP to cast and now targets all enemies.
