Salt of the earth
Salt of the earth, also known as High-end salt, is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series. It is high quality salt that is used as an ingredient in cooking or for Alchemy.

Salt of the earth is used as an ingredient in a variety of different cooking recipes. It can be purchased by exchanging 80 fish coins.
- In the Offline version of the game, it can also be received as a reward for completing subjugation requests.
Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below edit
Salt of the earth can be dropped by Slimes, She-slimes, and Agoomulators, found randomly in barrels and treasure chests on the Stonecloud, or received from King Flaminio in exchange for one Mini medal on the Stonecloud. It can be used to create Gold rings and Scholar's specs in the Alchemy Pot or sold for 1 gold coin. Three pinches of salt of the earth are required to complete Quest #52: Belle of the Bowl.

Salt of the earth can be foraged from green crystals on the Paternoggin or occasionally received by sending a dispatch team to the Snouterhorn or the Forsaken Station areas on the Paternoggin. It is used for cooking dishes at the canteen or for scouting monsters.

Known as High-end salt in this game, it is a 1★ material that is used in a variety of cooking recipes. It is the regional specialty of Grangate Harbour on the Mahrad continent and can also be received as a reward for completing certain levels.

- Salt of the earth is a phrase which traces its origin to the Book of Matthew of the New Testament from the Greek τὸ ἅλας τῆς γῆς (to halas tēs gēs). It can be used to describe a person that is decent, dependable, and unpretentious.
