This article is about the Dragon Quest monster. For other uses of "brownie", see
Wikipedia:Brownie.
The Brownie is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series that was introduced in Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride.
Characteristics
Brownies are yellow-skinned palette swaps of hammerhoods, bearing an orange-brown coloring and wielding a dark, grayish blue hammer. Comparatively, brownies aren't too different from hammerhoods, the two monsters essentially having the same purpose as being mostly incompetent creatures that occasionally get off a lucky shot. Brownies tend to have more HP and greater attack power since they have to fulfill this role against players that are no longer troubled by hammerhoods.

Etymology
Brownies are a part of English and Scottish folklore. They are household spirits, being diminutive little helpers who assist in house maintenance in exchange for small offerings of food. They do not like to be seen, and usually only perform their tasks in the quiet of night.
