Bug family
The Bug Family (Japanese Kanji: 虫 Hiragana: むしRomanji: Mushi) refers to monsters in Dragon Quest that take on forms of insects, arachnids, gastropods, and occasionally amphibians. In Dragon Quest XI and the more recent Monsters spin-offs bugs are classified as part of the Nature family.

Effective weapons and skills
Beginning with Dragon Quest IX, all Knives deal an extra 10% damage to bugs. Furthermore, the BugBlow and Fly Swat skills deal severe damage to the invertebrates.
