The Heligator is a monster in the series.

Characteristics edit

The heligator is a monster that is a cross between an alligator and a dragon with canine features, floating about in midair as if it is swimming through water. It has a brown hide with a tan underside, shaggy red manes, a long tail, and a jaw filled with sharp fangs. Heligator's Japanese name is combination pun based on wani (ワニ), the Japanese word for alligator or crocodile, and wyvern (ワイバーン, waibān?), a type of dragon. Depending on the game, it is either considered a beast or a dragon.

Dragon Quest X edit

The Heligator appears as a monster of the Dragon family. It is found underwater in the Water region of Nagaland, behaving like its namesake. Heligators have kept their familiar body slam attack and can also swing their tails around at any surrounding enemies.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker edit

After the Monster Scout Challenge finals have ended and the Incarnus leaves the party, the player can speak to Sebastian, a blue-haired rival Scout located inside the Domus Isle sewers. He asks the player which of his monsters he should take with him, a Heligator or a Mechan-o'-wyrm. If you told Sebastian he should take his Mechan-o'wyrm, he will offer to give you his Heligator as a gift. However, it becomes unavailable if the player has already defeated Dr. Snapped.
