The Demon-at-arms is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. It is a powerful undead monster that was introduced in Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation.
Characteristics
The demon-at-arms is a hellish four armed fiend that's armed to the teeth with terrifying weapons, including two curved cutlasses, a nifty knife and a great conking club. Dressed in dingy dark armour and with ugly orange cracked skin, this menacing monster is quite a creepy sight to behold. Having so many arms allows the demon to strike twice in a turn, but this fiend fancies itself as a spell slinger as well as a warrior, striking the battlefield all foes with fierce fire using Kasizzle and a crushing cowering foes with icy malicious magic in the form of Kacrackle. Before unleashing their flurry of feisty spells, they love to lower battlers defense by casting Kasap. These frightening foes can even breath and belch hot flames across the entire field, using flame breath. Wise wizardly adventurers would definitely benefit from the boon of the Insulate spell when battling these beasts.

The demon-at-arms is sent to kill the Hero's spirit and leads an offensive in Weaver's Peak with the group of monsters. After defeating all of the other monsters threatening the villagers, the Hero's spirit is seen locked in battle with the monster. If the Hero speaks with his own spirit, the two can merge together by answering "Yes" to his question and he will remember the Zap spell, weakening the monster in the process. If the player answers "No" to his spirit, the demon-at-arms is much stronger. The battle can be completed in either case and Weaver's Peak is saved. After the Hero merges with his other self, he becomes known as the "Prince of Somnia".
Reappearing as normal enemies starting with the base game, they are found in near endgame locations for Versions 1 and 2, namely the Heart of Hell and the Eternal Corridor, though some are also found in other locations. Demons-at-Arms gone Vicious are found in the Demon World, starting with 5.1 of the game.
