The Foo dog is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first introduced in Dragon Quest IV.

Characteristics

Foo dogs are large beasts that are a cross between lions and rabid dogs with silvery white fur, a golden mane and tail and gold tufts of hair on its legs and paws. It has glowing yellow eyes and drool trailing from its fang-lined mouth. In the Monsters spinoff games, the foo dogs are part of the Material family as a reference to the guardian lion dog statues they are based on.

Appearances

Dragon Quest IV

Two foo dogs at either side of Master Kung are encountered in a boss fight in Dragon Quest IV. Master Kung demands sacrificial female victims brought to an altar behind the church in Taborov.
