The fur cape is a recurring piece of clothing in the Dragon Quest series, introduced in Dragon Quest V. It is typically a mid-level piece of clothing designed for spellcasters.
Some fans think that this armor was meant to be a replacement for the Fur Coat from Dragon Quest IV, and many also believe that the Leather Cape introduced in Dragon Quest VIII was meant to replace the fur cape. All of them possess similar appearances and properties, however they nevertheless have different names and are therefore different items. It's sometimes speculated that all three of these items trace their origin back to the Mink Mantle from Dragon Quest II, but this is less clear.

Dragon Quest V
The fur cape has a defense bonus of +18 and can be purchased for 550 gold coins. It can be equipped by Bianca, Nera, and the hero's daughter.
Dragon Quest VI
The fur cape has a defence bonus of +18 and a style bonus of +18. It can also be purchased for 550 gold.
Dragon Quest VII
The fur cape has a defence bonus of +18 and a style bonus of +18. It can be worn by Maribel, Ruff, and Aishe and can be purchased at the Pilgrim's Rest Inn for 900 gold and sold for 450. A fur cape can also be found in the Poolside Cave and they can be won as prizes from the Lucky Panel at the Casino.
