Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past
The pirate's hat has a defence bonus of +19 and a style bonus of +21. It can be worn by the Hero, Ruff, and Sir Mervyn. It can be purchased for 2,800 gold and sold for 1,400.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King

The pirate's hat has a defence rating of +30. It can only be worn by the Hero or sold for 1,400 gold. It is obtained as a dropped item by Captain Crow or heavy hoods.
- In the 3DS version, the Pirate's hat now has a defence bonus of +36 and can also be equipped by both Morrie and Red. Red's appearance changes if she wears the pirate's hat with the cap'n's clothes.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age
The Pirate's hat can be obtained by completing the quest "The Viking Hoard". It can be equipped by Erik and Sylvando. It has a defence bonus of +30 and an agility bonus of +20 that can be increased up to +34 and +24 respectively by using the Fun Size Forge. It also reduced the chance to be paralyzed by 30%.
