The Mandrake monarch is a monster in the series.

Characteristics edit

Mandrake monarchs are violet-scaled, bipedal winged dragon warriors that hail from the demon world, wearing a set of golden armour and wielding a curved sabre and round golden shield. They are able to call for backup from more of their kind to try overwhelming their opponents. In the Nintendo 3DS remake of VII, the mandrake monarch's scales were changed to a dark red with black horns and black wing membranes and it now wore silver armour in order to differentiate it from Setesh the Punisher. However in Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, the monarchs went back to their original purple colour scheme.

Description		Well-balanced, wickedly talented warriors. When they meet with awkward opposition, they call on their companions. The rings around their wrists and ankles aren't armour -- they're weights to keep them working out even while warring.
