Death scorpions are arachnids with a highly protective dull pink exoskeleton that safeguards their reddish undersides. In their original appearance, the scorpions had teal-coloured exoskeletons protecting a red underside. This colour scheme would not be reused until both Monster Parade and Keshi Keshi. In later games, the scorpions gained the ability to inflict poison and even instantly kill with their deadly stings, true to their moniker.
Death scorpion began appearing in Version 6.0 of the game. They are much stronger than their previous appearances, being able to act twice per turn, perform spinning attacks, and can inflict either poison with their attacks or kill instantly with Assassin's Stab.
Death scorpion appears as an A-rank monster of the Nature family as part of the True Dragon Quest I event. It will join the party in the Damdara Desert 1 stage of Adventure in the DQ I World: Majellan and it can be fully awakened by repeating the stage at any difficulty. The death scorpion stars in its own Battle Road.
