The shell slime is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first introduced in Dragon Quest III.

It is a green variant of a seaslime with a copper-colored conch shell that appears more commonly on land than at sea. Unlike their blue-hued brethren the shell slimes have grown their namesake instead of occupying discarded shells.

Shell slime appears as a D-rank monster of the Slime family. It can be recruited from Chapters 4-5, 11-3, 12-1, and 13-3 of the main storyline, as well as Chapter 1, Episode 3 and Chapter 2, Episode 1 of the Slime Fest at any difficulty. The shell slime can participate in the Battle Roads of the Slime knight, Bubble slime, King bubble slime, Dora-in-Grey, and Winter Queen as a party member.
