The Stone guardian is a monster in the series.

Characteristics edit

Stone guardians are powerful statues often charged with protecting the strongholds of Demon Lords. They have the appearance of solidly-built bearded men wearing togas that have been carved out of dark green stone, their eyes glowing with blue light. It is said that the statues were originally constructed with protecting innocent people before turning their loyalty to Demon Lords. They are able to crush opponents underneath their stony feet and even unleash powerful tremors by stomping on the ground. In some games such as VI and VIII, the stone guardians have been carved out of an earthy grey stone instead of their usual dark green.

Trivia edit

  • The Stone guardian's Japanese name Daimajin (大魔神, だいまじん?, lit. Great Demon God) is a reference to Daimajin, a series of Japanese films of the same name, first released in 1966. The films center around a wrathful mountain spirit sealed within a giant warrior statue that would come to life in times of desperation to punish evildoers. The stone guardian's monster description in various games often make reference to the films.
