Characteristics edit
The bottlenose buckler is a rhombus-shaped shield designed to resemble a dolphin. The shield has a silver border and the center is divided into two sections, with the top section coloured blue and the lower section being an ivory colour. It is designed to protect the wielder from either aquatic-themed attacks or ice-elemental damage. In the English version, the shield is named after the bottlenose dolphin.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past edit
The Bottlenose buckler has a Defence and Style bonus of +28, reduces damage taken from Tidal Wave by 30, and can only be equipped by the Hero and Aishe. It can be purchased as a prize from the Casino at Pilgrim's Rest for 5,000 tokens and sold for 600 gold. If a character is equipped with both the bottlenose buckler and the Sea Serpent Sabre when being graded for the Best Dressed contest of the Excellence Grading Organisation in El Ciclo, they will receive an extra +10 bonus to Style.
- Due to the removal of Maelstrom from the Nintendo 3DS version, the bottlenose buckler instead reduces damage taken from Maelstrom and Jolly Rager by 30. Additionally, one can be found in the Nottagen Region in the past in a treasure chest outside of the Pillar of Sulkk. Bottlenose buckler can be received as a reward by clearing a custom Traveller's Tablet with a Croaked king as the boss.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined edit
The Bottlenose buckler has a Defence bonus of +23, a Charm bonus of +15, a Block Chance of 6%, and reduces ice-elemental damage by 10%. It can be equipped by the Hero, Ruff, and Aishe. The shield can be purchased for 1,600 gold from Wetlock in the past and sold for 800 gold. Bottlenose buckler is a 3♦ prize from the Lucky Panel at Pilgrim's Rest in the past, a 2♦ prize in the present, and a 1♦ prize after the Demon King's resurrection.
