Gold ore is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series. It is a precious chunk of ore that can be smelted into a large amount of gold that is used as a crafting ingredient.

Gold ore can be picked up from sparkly spots in the Gallopolis Region, the Laguna di Gondolia, the Emerald Coast, the Zwaardsrust Region, the Caverns under Octagonia, Insula Incognita, the Eerie Eyrie, the Hekswood, and the Dragon's Lair in the Heliodor Sewers. It can also be dropped by Golden globes, as well as Gyldenauts and Gold golems, along with their vicious counterparts. Chunks of gold ore can be found in treasure chests in Hotto and the Cryptic Crypt. In the postgame, it can be purchased from the shop at the Havens Above for 400 gold. It can be sold for 100 gold.

Gold ore is used as a material for crafting various accessories or sold for 100 gold. It can be dropped commonly by Gem slimes and rarely by Gremlins.
